Good times outdoors

On any given day, my typical routine when getting home from work, is to get Elem out of the car seat, put him down on the grass, close the door, get out his bag, and then turn around to find he has already made his way into the back yard. It is so funny! Its like he hits the ground running, and he knows right where he wants to be!

Before you can even get back there he is already taking the sandbox lid off of the turtle sandbox, or running to go up the slide the wrong way on his little play slide. You would think we keep him locked up inside all the time, with the way he takes off and is so excited to just be in the fresh air with toys-but seriously, he plays outside like 2-3 hours a day at school. AND on MWF he is swimming in the kiddie pools for like 2 hours. Where he gets his energy I have no idea. I guess that is the luxury of being 14 months old! (which I will be posting 14 month milestones today-in a different blog post!) To be honest, the very last thing I want to do after a 10 hour day at work with zillions of children is to go outside in the hot sun, mosquito infested, Arkansas sticky heat! But then I see this little face:

And he is just a playing away as happy as can be. SO I sit, and I play, and daddy comes outside and plays with us. usually before we even set foot inside the door. Elem has most recently developed an excitement for planes and birds in the sky. I think he started to notice them in Florida when we were on the beach and those advertising planes would fly over real low to the ground, so he got a good look at them then, and then birds too for that matter. They were every where. So every time he hears one-bird or plane-he throws his hand up before he even sees it! its so cute! And he says :birrrr. I am guessing that is for bird. :)

Our back yard is pretty big, but we havent built a fence to it yet-which we HAVE to do ASAP. Ad we are wanting to build a deck outside too because we just dont have hardly any patio at all. I mean the patio (or little slab of concrete to be quite honest) barely holds the grill and one person on it, so needless to say we have no where to sit outside! Which makes it super hard to be out there while he is playing!

He loves to open and close the door over and over and over again. There is something about doors he is really interested in. Even the ones in the house, he walks around and shuts if they are open. haha.

Overall he is just as silly as he can be when he is outside, and just plays his little heart out until I have to drag him inside kicking and screaming each and every night. Until that point, he is oh so cute running around with no shirt or shoes on, screaming at the top of his lungs just to hear himself yell. And dying for someone to chase him around.

Now I cant forget to include Sage in this mix, because she is right there with Elem outside every second he is! And will bark her head off if you try and leave her in while everyone else is outside having fun! They play soo good together, and every once in a while he gets to touch her. ha! I guess they go good together since they both have a freakishly high about of energy all day long every day! And sage is 6!

Last thing, he has also seen me trying to swat at flies with the fly swat, and also my hand. So he has taken on the duty. But I dont think he actually hits at anything-any bugs that is, just the play gym cause he saw me do it. haha.

Then it is off to the great indoors. To eat, drink. And be merry.
